Our Authors

Scarlet’s goal is to gain satisfactory experience in the book publishing world so that she will then be able to help other neurodiverse persons with their publishing endeavours. Scarlet is the primary motivator behind Painted Daisy Publishing. Her writing is built upon her academic and teaching background and feels that books are another form of teaching. Her goal is to produce as many non-fiction books as she is able to. All with the goal of learning and helping others learn as well. She likes to use Bloom’s Taxonomy as a scaffold for learning.

Scarlet is determined to produce a high interest low vocabulary series for struggling older readers. She also enjoys creating digital art.

Bren’s goal is to have her paintings and photographs published as a way to share her art with the world. Bren is currently posting her work to Redbubble and Instagram.

Tommy’s goal is to turn out some deliciously devious creative writing, and anything else that she fancies.

Sasha’s goal is to create delightful children’s books that will bring joy to all the kids who read them. Perhaps she will write about shy Annie, who loves ballet.

Bree, Scarlet, and Bren are collaborating to bring their experiences working with ADHD and complex special needs to print. Though this is taking them longer than expected, the first draft is well in progress. Exciting times!

Adaptive Supports

For some individuals, sharing their ideas can be challenging due to learning and behavioral issues. It’s crucial to create a supportive learning environment to empower them to express their creativity. By accommodating diverse learning styles and challenges, we can create a more enriched and inclusive community. Painted Daisy Publishing supports individuals with cognitive impairments, helping them through the publishing process.

System Bree is fully aware of how adaptive supports are required to help people achieve their dreams. As a special education teacher and as a person with a neuro-complex brain, Bree’s approach to learning and expression is full of brain based learning supports.

  • patience is crucial
  • repetition of instruction in differing modals
  • reasonable expectation on meeting deadlines
  • reduce distractions
  • provide sensory relief
  • one-to-one support
  • speech to text
  • text to speech
  • organization tools
  • somatic supports
  • mindfulness
  • Many other supports as is helpful.

There are controversies over using Artificial Intelligence, AI, in the writing process, and for good reason. Yet, for those writers who have suffered from brain injury and are no longer able to write, or for those who were born with learning challenges and neurodifferences, the variety of AI tools now available can actually make the writing process possible. The use of AI in writing for person with neuro-diversities can be strategically used to support their writing process, publishing, and marketing strategies.
